Core Subjects: Empower focus is on building foundational skills through explicit instruction, multi-sensory approaches, and differentiated instruction/activities, with a strong emphasis on reading comprehension, fluency, decoding accuracy, vocabulary development, and practical application of math concepts, while providing accommodations such as, visual aids, scribe, material read aloud, graphic organizers, audiobooks, provided word banks, sentence starters, and more dependent upon each student needs to achieve mastery of academic skills.

Elective Options: Elective course offerings includes Social Skills and a Field Trip Co-op. The field trip co-op will require parent attendance on any outings you choose to attend.

Curriculum Selection Process: Curriculum options are researched, or personally designed based to target various learners. Each student will partake in an academic screening which will determine the best scope and sequence of skills for each learner. In addition, an Individual Learning Plan will be created for each student. The Individual Learning Plan will include specific learning goals that target areas of weakness for each student, and tracked until mastery. Lastly, students will receive tutoring instruction on their current level of performance in order to master foundational skills, unless parents request tutoring/intervention of a specific skill(s).

Our curriculum includes independently created lesson plans to teach specific skills, in addition to various teaching approaches and resources such as online programs, textbooks, workbooks, manipulatives, various teaching approaches and materials.
